Overview of the Program Curriculum

Let us be your first resource.  This is where the learning begins. From a rich curriculum to strong teachers with regular and special education backgrounds.  We specialize in special education because we know that every child’s needs are unique.  Children are free to make mistakes, explore, and develop at the right pace.

Toddler Program

(3-4year old’s)

At this age, your little one is ready to go deeper with exploring the world around them.  They are more physically energetic and curious about their bodies.  Our goal is to monitor their growth progress.  During this stage of life, it’s important to pay attention to their emotional well-being.  Catching early signs of physical or mental delay will help your child get the support they need in order to be ready for kindergarten.  Some children may need one-on-one support until they develop specific skills required for their age.  We allow children to be creative while exploring the differences around them.  Each learning station is filled with unique ways to be creative.  Come explore with us.

  • Literacy station: Reading is an essential part of each child’s day.  Children enjoy learning about new characters in a story.  They can pretend that they are one of the characters in the book.
  • Dramatic play: Children love to dress up and make-believe.  We offer a large selection of clothing from school teachers to doctors.  Your child can become anyone they want to.
  • Technology: We are surrounded by technology in our everyday lives.  Toddlers are curious beings. Allow your child to play around with electronics such as gadgets, a smartphone, or a tablet.
  • Art: When children use art, they can be creative in many ways. For example, art can be used as therapy.Children can paint their feelings on paper and discuss ways to improve how their emotions are affecting them that day.
  • Sensory station: These stations are strictly designed to stimulate their senses.  When they start with the sandbox, they will feel the different textures on their skin.  If they mix it with concrete, rice, or other small items will create a new texture to explore.  Sensory stations are an essential part of the learning day.  Students are developing language, social, and sensory integration skills that are needed to build healthy relationships.
  • Blocks: Here’s a place where children can really become creative. If your child has a skill in engineering and architecture, this is the foundation.  Kids can use blocks for counting, building, motor skills, community building with peers, and building self-esteem.
  • Math and Manipulatives: This is the start of where the love for math begins.  Children are developing critical problem-solving skills that are correlated to math which promotes the growth needed to be successful in school and throughout life.  Additionally, adding a math picture book to the station is not only a visual but a great manipulative for beginners in math.
  • Music: Preschoolers are always busy.We gotta keep them moving because movement stimulates the brain. This program is designed to keep your little one physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually active.Songs are always upbeat and inspirational.According to the Frontiers Review article, music intervention suggested that music has positive effects on a variety of skills.Amongst these skills are motor, Social, language, cognitive, and academic abilities.Additionally, it’s a movement that means, a happy, healthy heart.

    Prekindergarten (4-5 year old’s)

At this stage of life, children should be physically active using their gross motor skills, running, jumping, kicking, and swinging with ease.  They should be able to use complete sentences, grow their vocabulary, count to 10, and recognize sight words such as “STOP.”  Your child will receive a pre/post assessment so that staff is able to monitor students’ success.  Our goal is to prepare them for kindergarten.  We offer many learning techniques and we’ll be able to determine which one works for your child.  Whether it’s traditional or Montessori, your prekindergarter will be ready.

Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematics (STEAM) (6-8th grade)

This program is geared toward our older students.  However, preschoolers are welcome to explore our STEAM program.  As a matter of fact, each station will represent our STEAM program.  What does a science station look like?  Very hands-on.  Students can learn new and exciting things each day.  Although each center is 15 minutes each, kids can enjoy hours of STEAM every day.  Our technology station is complete with tablets and Chromebooks.  Students can work independently or with a table partner.  They are free to explore technology in a way that will develop their cognitive thinking, hands-on learning, and creative skills.

Students in grade 6-8th will have an opportunity to learn computer science in a way that they haven’t imagined it to be.  Milwaukee Public School has a program that focuses on coding.  Code.org is a district program offered to grade k-12 students.  This program is designed to reach a diversity of students and introduce them to a world of science through technology.  Take a deeper look at Code.org.
