Traditional Curriculum
Students love rotating stations. Every day is a new day to learn something different. We are excited to use Chickadees Home Preschool Curriculum. It’s much like the one used by Milwaukee Public Schools. We follow their Common Core State Standards.
Montessori curriculum
Much like our traditional lesson plan, we offer a rich and fulfilling Montessori teacher lead program. Here is a full list of preprimary lesson trackers that our teachers use to take notes and record data that your child has mastered. Take a look at what our Montessori curriculum looks like.
Children learn in different ways. What’s your child’s learning style? For those that are new to what Montessori teaching is, here’s a quick overview: Montessori is designed to give kids a hands-on learning experience with collaborative play. Students are self-directed to engage in a number of activities at their own pace. The teacher gives the whole class a lesson, after instruction is given, the children are left on their own to do the activity. The classroom is child-centered. Once you enter a Montessori classroom, you will notice children working individually, on the floor, sitting at a table, or walking around offering real items to taste. It’s a unique environment with multiple engaging activities that your child will love.
Biblical Curriculum
In this modern-day society, children see and hear many things. Some good and some bad. Our biblical teachings instill moral behavior, build character, and create a loving environment, and are centered around Christ. What does that mean for your child? Our rich curriculum is filled with stories from the bible. From (A) Adam to (Z) Zabdi. We use the slogan “train a child in the way that they should go” for a reason. We believe that children are the future and we need to instill spiritual knowledge in them so that they are equipped to face the world ahead of them.
Special Education and Sensory Integration
We welcome children with special needs into our program because we know that every child is different and that every child deserves to feel loved in a loving environment. Our trained professionals are skilled and ready to embrace your child with open arms. Children with special needs sometimes need a little extra special attention to self-regulate or the use of calming stimulations. The “dinosaur” room is a sensory room used to calm students that start to feel over stimulated, anxious, tired, or frustrated. Each station has a special activity designed specifically for a specific need.
Social Emotional Learning
What is Social Emotional Learning (SEL)? It’s a place where little ones can feel safe when expressing their feelings. The fundamentals of SEL are self-awareness, self-managemnet, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. According to CASEL, these five fundamentals makes up SEL with a combination of our community, family & caregivers, schools, and classrooms. We use a variety of strategies to address social emotional patterns, habits, or learned behaviors and create an atmosphere that surrounds the child with love. Each day the students arrive, there’s a mirror at the door where they stand in front of and speak words of affirmations about themselves before they start their day. This helps set the tone for the day. We believe in uplifting each other. We pride ourselves in practicing empathy and kindness.
