Our Founder
LaBernadette Ference is a middle school special education teacher. She has worked for Milwaukee Public Schools since August 2007. She believes that everyone deserves a quality education. Ms. Ference is the founder of By His Grace Preschool in Milwaukee. Her passion for teaching and learning drives her to be the backbone of future leaders.
Over the past few years, she has attended professional development, and early childhood education courses, and connected with the community to see what is missing in the lives of children. Children need love and attention. They need a safe place to learn, grow, and explore. Her mission is to celebrate a world of differences through future leaders with kindness and empathy. Furthermore, building Christ-like character and adapting life skills that lead to an abundant life.
Ms. Ference obtained her master’s degree in special education in May 2021. Working as a middle school teacher, she noticed that many of these children were missing core moral values. Aside from their academic knowledge, their lack of empathy, respect, gratitude, and love was not present.
Where do we start? We start by training a child in a way that they should go so that when they are adults, their knowledge doesn’t depart from them. She is a dedicated teacher that understands the needs of young children born into a generation of disengagement, lack of trust, and love. Her goal is to teach one to reach one. She meets children where they are with love and patience.
Ms. Ference has a strong background in healthcare. She earned her bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration in October 2017. She served over fifteen years as a certified nursing assistant. Being a nursing assistant takes patience, dedication, and kindness. Not only did she demonstrate moral conduct with her patients, but she also showed it within her healthcare community.
LaBernadette is a team player, a good listener, and a leader. She goes above and beyond for the people in her care. Her attention to detail made her a great asset to the company. She’s loyal, empathic, and kind .She will show up and get the job done, yet humble while doing so.
LaBernadette has served her community over the past years by volunteering, serving at church, and mentoring children. She believes in taking advantage of opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others. If she can help bring a smile to someone’s face let’s her know that she is operating in the gift that God has given her.
Why Us
By His Grace Preschool, the program will offer students Faith-based teaching that will instill biblical morals, build character, and promote healthy positive relationships. Our service has a rich curriculum that includes Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Additional services that this program will provide are physical, occupational, and speech services for students that identify as a student with special needs and requires an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) or other unique essentials related to meeting the needs of every child. We pride ourselves in providing Positive Behaviour Intervention Services (PBIS) standards in teaching students to be respectful, responsible, and safe.
We value our children, parents, guardians, and the community. Our goal is to reach and teach the young minds of every student by providing them with stellar opportunities to grow and excel with their peers within other educational industries.
Our program has talented licensed staff that has the skills to work with a diverse culture of children. Children learn through play and hands-on visuals. That’s why this program doesn’t stop at providing a traditional style of teaching. We also provide students with advanced Montessori learning. We are preparing our future leaders with the knowledge and skills that they would need throughout their life as well as preparing them for college.
In addition to serving children ages 3 to 5, we also offer a special service to those that are the legal caregivers of the students that are in our program. Yes, that’s right. We offer parenting classes, life skills, coaching, basic education classes, and wellness classes. We strive to provide a family-style atmosphere where parents and caregivers can learn, grow, and succeed together. We are a community of people that care about the future of our little ones. We are not only attentive, caring, and educated, but we believe that all individuals deserve to be safe, healthy, and succeed at whatever we put our minds to. At this preschool, we value our community, parents, students, and staff so much that we want to include them in the services that are offered to the students.
